A+ Plus UPVC Windows

Our A+ Plus UPVC windows are the most energy efficient and environmentally friendly window in our range, even topping the previously perceived best available – A-rated Windows.  A+Plus Windows have been developed to insulate your home better than ever before, enabling you to reduce your reliance on expensive heating systems. Design improvements to this product and the intelligent glass used, not only reduce the heat lost through your windows but actually allow natural heat from the sun to travel in the opposite direction, into your home.

  • Our most energy efficient windows available...

Our most energy efficient windows available...

    • You may be aware of the traffic light energy rating system that applies to a whole host of products such as houses, home appliances and vehicles. The system is designed to make it really easy for consumers to understand how efficient a product is. The Window Energy Rating scheme (WER) falls into this system, and until now could be rated from A - green - to G - red, with only windows rated C or above able to be used as replacements, as stipulated by Building Regulations.

Now though, A-rated windows are no longer the most energy efficient on the market; A+ Plus Windows are recognised as even better under the WER scheme. As a result of long term product developments, we are now able to offer these highly efficient A+ windows in both double and triple glazed form.

    • When it comes to UPVC windows, energy efficiency relates to limiting your reliance on internal heating systems by reducing heat loss through the windows and maximising the absorption of natural warmth from the sun (solar gain). A+ Plus windows work in a very similar way to loft and cavity wall insulation, in that they can prevent internal heat from escaping. However, their most intelligent feature is that they allow external heat to enter the home, thus maximising warmth with less energy usage.

A+ Plus windows are comprised not only of glass, but also a sophisticated composition of other gasses and materials. Ultimately, it means that your heating won't need to be on as often or for as long, even during the coldest months.

    • Heating bills are incredibly expensive, and families throughout the UK would love to reduce their energy costs and have more disposable money to spend on life's little luxuries. A+ Plus windows are therefore a brilliant investment, and with a lifespan of 20 to 35 years they offer fantastic value for money.

Many customers who have had their windows replaced with A+ Plus have commented that their home felt immediately warmer. No longer do they have to put up with feeling the cold in order to save money, as their windows keep their home warmer and more comfortable without any extra energy usage.

    • We recycle, keep on eye on our electricity usage, and aim to limit our use of cars whenever we can, so it makes sense to incorporate energy efficient windows into our mission to reduce our carbon footprint.

Boilers, coal fires and electric radiators may be a necessity but they are not good for the environment, and having inefficient windows is much like leaving your front door open in terms of letting heat escape and wasting energy. Windows can cover up to 25% of a building's surface area, and when they perform badly they can seriously inhibit your home's overall energy rating. A+ Plus windows can transform your home into an incredibly efficient property and have a brilliant impact on the environment.

  • Gain maximum energy saving performance...

    Gain maximum energy saving performance...

    • It is not just the double or triple glazing in a window that contributes to its energy-saving performance, but a whole host of other features too.

To maximise the effects of the double or triple glazing, we create an A+ Plus window frame with five insulating chambers. We also incorporate a sash frame with six insulating chambers, as well as a bubble gasket which works in the same crucial way as a seal on a fridge freezer; it stops heat from escaping.

The glazing itself is inventively comprised of carefully chosen materials which control the passing of heat between inside and outside. It allows the natural warmth of the sun to pass into the house, whilst internal heat is unable to escape.

    • Window sashes are the movable frames which surround the glazing itself. Sashes are themselves framed by the window's outer frame, which is attached to the walls of your house. Frames and sashes not only look good and make it easy for windows to be installed in domestic houses, but they also help with the insulation process.

UPVC is a naturally insulating material, but A+ Plus windows also have outer frames and sashes which contain insulating chambers to maximise performance. The outer frame contains five chambers whilst the sash has six, and steel can be inserted into them for reinforced strength if needed. The double or triple glazing is fit into the sash with an internal glazing bead, which helps to keep the window secure.

    • There are four main components to a double glazed unit: the outer pain, a spacer bar, an inner pane, and gas which fills the cavity between the other components. Whilst the outer pane lets the sun's warmth and light into the house, the inner pane is coated with a special material that reflects heat and prevents it from leaving the room.

Traditionally and in less energy efficient windows, the spacer bar is made from aluminium which is highly conductive, thus enabling the transfer of internal heat out of the window. Instead, we use a composite material for our spacers which is far less conductive and better at retaining heat within the home. This adds to the window's insulating properties.

Argon, a dense gas which is very resistant to heat loss, is used to fill the space between the two panes of glass. When it comes to triple glazed windows, an extra coated pane is used and two cavities are created, both of which are filled with Argon.

    • Windows should be energy efficient, but it's also very important for them to be secure against intruders, too. For this reason, we use high quality hinges, handles and locking mechanisms, all of which have been tested extensively to ensure excellent performance.

  • From double glazing to triple glazing...

From double glazing to triple glazing...

    • We offer our A+ windows with both double and triple glazing, though it goes without saying that triple glazed windows are by far the most insulating and efficient option. However, for many consumers on a budget, double glazed A+ Plus windows provide the right balance of affordability and energy efficiency.

It's also important to consider your location and climate when choosing your glazing options. If your house is particularly exposed to the elements, triple glazing may well be worth the added investment. If unsure, one of our advisers will be able to recommend the most suitable solution based on your lifestyle, property and your motives for having replacement windows.

    • Under the WER scheme, with all features and performance factors considered including solar gain and insulation, our A+ Plus 28mm double glazed windows are rated A+10. They also have a U-value of 1.3 w/m²K.

U-value is the metric used to analyse the amount of heat lost through a window; the lower the u-Value, the more insulating a window is. To give some perspective, let's take a look at the values of other glazing types:

      • Single-glazed, old windows - 5.1 w/m²K
      • Early variations of double glazed windows - 2.8 w/m²K
      • Our A+ Plus 28mm double glazed windows - 1.3 w/m²K

    • The WER scheme rates our A+ Plus 36mm triple glazed windows at A+21, which is now classed as A++ in accordance with new rating categories launched in 2015. Its U-value is 1.0 w/m²K. This lower rate compared to our double glazed windows has been achieved with the addition of a third glass pane to create an extra cavity. Despite its extra insulation, our triple glazed windows appear practically identical to their double glazed counterparts.

    • Bathroom windows and front door sidelights tend to be finished with privacy glazing in order to reduce visibility through the pane without inhibiting the amount of light let into the room. We can incorporate privacy glazing into our triple and double glazed A+ plus windows without compromising energy efficiency in any way. Including Stippolyte, Minster and Florielle, we have a great range of textured patterns and visual effects so that you can choose a privacy glass style to suit your exacting tastes.

  • We offer a wide range of colour options...

We offer a wide range of colour options...

    • Since it is a neutral colour with excellent surface finish durability, A+ Plus windows tend to be most popular in white UPVC, but we do offer a wide range of colour options should you like something more out of the ordinary. We have wood-effect finishes such as mahogany and oak in order to create a traditional look, as well a range of fantastic colours including grey, green and cream. With so many options to choose from, you're bound to find a scheme which complements your home's exterior design.

We also have the option to provide colour 'on white', which means that whilst the interior window face remains white, the exterior face will be another colour. This allows you to keep your internal décor neutral whilst enjoying a brighter colour on the outside of your property.

    • Low maintenance, durable and neutral, smooth white gloss finishes are a classic option and incredibly popular. UPVC is naturally waterproof but this feature is emphasised with the glossy finish. To clean, they can easily be wiped down with soapy warm water and will look like new for many years to come.

    • In order to make your windows really stand out as a feature on your home's exterior, you can choose a colour finish. Our coloured UPVC offers all the same low-maintenance qualities as the white variety, and in terms of popularity it is cream, grey, black-brown and green that most commonly chosen.

We can also provide dark red, green and blue colour options, all of which have a woodgrain texture effect for a stylish finish. If you'd like a neutral white shade but also like the look of woodgrain, you could choose our Whitegrain option which is a little more subtle than the glossy white finish.

    • Timber windows may not be very durable or energy efficient, but they have a certain traditional charm that UPVC windows lack. For this reason we've created a range of UPVC woodgrain finishes which emulate the look of timber whilst providing easy very maintenance and durability. With classic shades such as cherry, oak and mahogany, you'll easily be able to achieve a stylish natural look with no need to stain or repaint as with real wooden windows.

    • After testing out all our window designs you may find that you have a preference for a window that functions in a certain way as not all windows open and close in the same manner. For example, Tilt & Turn windows are great for those who want to take the strain out of cleaning their windows as they give you the option of doing it from the inside of your house. We also have offerings that slide vertically and open from the side or top.

    • Energy bills have fast become one of the biggest financial strains for the contemporary property owner and in many cases much of the blame can be levelled at the windows installed. When heat loss readily occurs in the home it is very often the fault of the windows as they fail to provide the thermal insulation required. Rather than put up with the situation, you are far better advised to replace the windows and cut your costs.

    • It’s plainly obvious that if someone were to attempt to break into your home one of the first places they would try to gain access through would be the windows so you need to ensure that your existing windows are providing the level of security your home needs. Our windows are incredibly durable and each come with a multi-point locking mechanism which when fixed will put a preventative block on intruders.
