• The Unusual Dormer Window: Working with a dormer requires precision. This element bridges the gap between the characterful roofline and the rest of the ground-floor installations.
• The Balanced Dummy Sashes: To give the illusion that every vent opens, we utilised perfectly balanced dummy sashes. While a flush casement design is often considered superior, using a storm seal system balanced with dummy sashes offers a brilliant, ultra-thermally efficient alternative. Mr and Mrs Rogers benefit from the weatherproofing advantages of the turned edge on the front of the closing window but retain a symmetrical sightline.
• The Arch Top with Astragal Bar: Tucked into the architecture is an unusual arch top window. To elevate it further, it was engineered with custom astragal glazing bars, making it a testament to bespoke fabrication.

The Finishing Touches

To cap the entire project off, the installation is finished in an unusual, bespoke RAL green. This specific tone was custom selected by the homeowners to set beautifully against the cottage’s historic cream brickwork, the lush towpath greenery, and the passing canal waters. The addition of authentic mid-rails in the dummy sashes provides an extra air of traditional beauty.
