5 Star use argon gas filled units in their UPVC Windows.

 

Poor-quality double-glazing units, in UPVC Windows, are filled with fresh air, conducting cold air between the panes, costing you money. Argon is an inert gas, which is pumped into the 20mm void between 5 Star’s standard double glazing units. In addition, it does not conduct the cold air and significantly reduces the build-up of condensation.

Aluminium windows have four significant differences to UPVC windows and are usually more expensive.

Aluminium being stronger is generally thinner than UPVC giving you more view and less frame. Aluminium comes in almost any RAL colour, it hardly expands or contracts and it will last many decades.

Both products have significantly developed over the years and now the choice really does come down to personal preference.
