The widest colour ranges...
Bi-folding doors can be dual-coloured – different on the inside to the outside – and are available in almost any colour, including the West Midlands newest trendy black, bright white and all the current greys. As 5 Star’s bi-fold doors are made from powder coated aluminium, there are up to 150 different RAL colours to choose from, depending on which manufacturer’s system you decide on. You can even go for wood-grain colour options if desired.
British Made Origin doors, one of the West Midlands most popular and desirable systems, coated with the highest-grade powder available. Applied using an electrostatic process after a special pre-treatment is hardened at 200°C to form a robust coating that is tougher than conventional paint, whilst maintaining a completely smooth surface. Aluminium doors are resistant to scratches and are unlikely to fade.
Finish your bi folds your way...
All 5 Star’s bi-folding hardware, handle, hinge, locks and finishing options are available in a choice of beautiful finishes, styles, and colours. The owners of modern West Midland homes tend to choose silver, while older properties look stunning with a bi folding door hardware in a gold or black. There’s also a cool simplicity to white which is constantly popular, it’s the timeless colour. If you have a busy family home, Stainless-steel handles are an excellent choice because they require less maintenance, are incredibly durable and are easy to clean.
Ultra safe bi folding doors
5 Star have bi folding doors which pass PAS23/24 tests – and pass the Police ‘Secure by Design’ standard. You can upgrade any to 3 Star barrel locks with British Standards accredited Magnum security cylinder, which protect you against snapping, picking, drilling, and bumping. All our bi folds come with multiple locking points.
Minimalise the trip and cut draughts...
The threshold is the track which the doors slide in. Our different systems offer different options so do spend a little time with a 5 Star Designer to understand the benefits. 5 Star recommends a weathered threshold (also known as a ‘rebated’ threshold), which can be recessed into the floor, it leaves a small lip of just 14mm and the seal on the bottom of the bi-fold door compresses against the lip to create a protective weather tight seal. A non-weathered thresholds gives a level transition between in and out. There is no raised section, which means as the door seal does not have a solid lip to compress against, optimal weather performance is unguaranteed. A non-weathered threshold is recommended for internal or sheltered areas.
Winter - warmer. Summer - cooler...
Aluminium is not a thermally efficient material; however, 5 Star’s bi fold systems have thermal polyamide breaks designed to limit the heat or cold transfer from inside to out and outside to in. This can help to reduce your energy bills. For example – The U-Value of doors measure how effectively they insulate, lower U-Values are better. The Building Regulation require doors and windows to have a U-Value of 1.6 W/m2K and for replacements, 1.4 W/m2K. 5 Star’s premier bi-fold door range exceed British Building Regulation across all its bi fold doors.
Glass and glazing alternatives...
Double and triple glazed units fitted in bi-folds are fitted with toughened glass as standard which is 8 times stronger than normal glass and tough to break, it is upgradable to laminate which is even tougher to cross and has added noise reduction benefits. designed to keep you and your home secure, our bi-folding doors are as secure as possible. The glass we use is also super clever, when manufactured it is coated with an almost invisible film which reflects the heat back into your rooms to keep you warmer in the freezing weather and helps reduce your energy bills – now that’s great news.
