DECORATIVE GLAZING

Etched glass is glass that has been etched with a design, number, or pattern. A house number or name can be etched onto the glass within, above, or to the side of a front door. A beautiful picture or pattern can be added within a feature window. Etching can be used to identify the presence of glass to avoid accidental collision. Etched glass designs can add a touch of elegance to a room.

Clear or Coloured Bevelled glass has been cut and polished at an angle. Giving the glass a multi-dimensional appearance. Bevelled glass was extremely popular in windows and doors at the end of the last century, it is less common today, yet still adds a touch of sophistication to a home or company premises.

Stained glass fragments dating to the 7th century have been found at Monkwearmouth and Jarrow in Northumbria. Stained glass as we know it was a medieval art form which was widely used in gothic architecture. Stained glass is very much alive in the 21st century and new stained-glass windows are still being made for religious, public, commercial buildings and homes. Stained glass can add a touch of colour and beauty to any space it can amazingly illuminate a hall or porch when the sun shines through.

Mirrored glass has been coated with a reflective material. Mirrored glass is commonly used in bathrooms and bedrooms, it can give the impression of making a room appear larger. Mirrored glass can also be used for privacy.

Laminated glass is much stronger than standard glass and is often used in safety applications. Laminated glass can be used to create a decorative effect when two or more panels of glass are affixed together with a decorative interlayer in-between.
