5 Star Hits The Small Screen On DIY SOS

The whole 5 Star team had their TVs tuned into BBC One on Tuesday night for the first episode in the new series of DIY SOS The Big Build.

This was because it featured a project we worked on last year in Cheltenham where we tasked with surveying, manufacturing and then installing new windows and doors at the home of young disabled athlete Scott Jones (pictured below) in just 10 days.

Scott Jones

Overseen by Installations Manager Darren Martin, our 5 Star fitting team integrated made to measure wheelchair access composite doors and eight A rated uPVC windows as part of a far-reaching transformation to enable Scott to be more independent at home.

It saw the development of a large side and rear extension encompassing a bespoke bedroom, wet room, with access to an adapted kitchen.

A state-of-the-art gym studio was also created to help the world champion shot putter realise his dream of competing at the Paralympics Games in 2020.

To get the full 5 Star perspective of the project, have a read of this blog post written just after we concluded our duties: https://www.5starwindows.co.uk/latestnews/5-star-windows-an-open-and-shut-case-for-the-bbc-diy-sos-team/2015/08/

We won’t deny that it was one of the most challenging assignments we’ve ever undertaken but it was a privilege for us to be involved in an amazing cause for such a deserving and inspirational person.
